Eric has a new toy!

For months on end Eric has been talking about buying a shotgun. At first I didn't think he was serious, but then he kept talking about it. I think it all really started when we went to visit our friends the Bakers down in St. George. They took us out shooting in the desert, and it was a lot of fun! Just in this past year his desire to be a gun owner has increased 100 fold. He would love to go to Cabela's to look at the guns. I can almost guarantee that he checked the KSL classifieds at least weekly to see if there were any great deals. Then we started hanging out with our friends Mike and Lisa more and guess what? Mike likes guns too. One week-end they went to Montana and Mike came home with a shotgun. The next week-end Mike and Eric went shopping for guns. That was this past week-end. I went on a hike with one of my old roomies while Eric went shopping. When Eric got home he told me that he had found the one that he wanted. It turns out that I had found a gun on sale randomly when I was looking for a swimsuit at Big 5 Sporting Goods here. I sent him that ad in an e-mail that he ended up checking after going gun shopping. The gun that I had sent him was the same gun that he had found but for $70 less. What a deal shopper I am. That was the first and only gun I found for him. I did well!! Anyways, we went to the store that day and bought it. However, we did have to prove our Utah residency, but since neither of us have a Utah license, it caused a little bit of a problem. Nothing was going to stand in Eric's way of getting that gun though. We eventually got it figured out and Eric is now the proud owner of a 12 gauge shotgun. Congratulations Eric! I don't have a picture of him with it yet, but after we go shooting this week-end I will post one for sure.

Has it really been that long?

I didn't really think it had been that long since I posted something until my sister-in-law Carly pointed out that my last post was from March 28th. WOW!! I have been really bad. I guess time flies when you're having fun. I don't want to make this a long boring post, so I will just list the highlights of the last month and a half. First of all, the winter semester ended at BYU which means we are that much closer to getting done with school. By we, I mean Eric. He did really well that semester. I am so proud of him. He does a really great job in his major. Second, Eric got a job a little while back for the Bradley Agency, which is the student run PR agency on campus. He was working for them for credit in the winter, but is now getting paid. It's great. Third, Eric got an internship doing media relations for BYU sports. He was just helping covering Women's Softball. He will work with them all through the summer helping with who knows what, but then in the Fall he will help with Football. He gets to sit in the press box and eat catered Tucano's. SO not fair. It will be good for him. I'm proud of him for that too. I have the most amazing husband!!! :) Alright fourth, my mom and sister were out here this past week-end for a fun little vacation. We went to a baseball game, went to Tucano's, went hiking, played lots of games, went on walks, spent Mother's Day together, and just had a lot of fun. I love being with my family. I wish that we had more family close by. Maybe someday. Fifth, we got to talk to my brother Jason this past Sunday on Mother's Day. It was the last time that we will talk to him while he's on his mission. He is actually coming home in 5 weeks. We are all so exicted. Its been so long! He sounded really happy, which was good. It was interesting to hear some stories about Detroit. It sounds so different up there. I'm very excited to have him come home. He's going to be moving out to Provo in September, and hopefully he will want to hang out with his married sister. So last but not least, May 3rd was our FIRST ANNIVERSARY!! We went up to Park City for the week-end and had a whole lot of fun! It was rainy the whole week-end but that didn't stop us. We did a little bit of shopping at the Outlets, went to dinner, walked around downtown, went to the Olympic Park, and swam. It's always nice to get away, but even better to get away when you have something so fun to celebrate. It was a great time. I wish it could have been longer though. Maybe next year! Anyways, that's all I've got for now. Hopefully I won't be such a lazy blogger this next month.

Oh wait, Eric will be sad if I forgot to talk about Easter. All Eric talked about for about a month was having lamb on Easter. Well, him and Ryan decided that they were really going to do it. Amber and I didn't think it would happen. I was really nervous the day before when Eric didn't have the meat. Well Costco came through for us, and we got a nice piece of Lamb that Eric and Ryan flavored very nicely. They did a great job. I was very impressed.

This is for all you Star Wars fans out there...

Last night Eric and I were driving home from ours friends house. On our way home we pass by this park that we live right by. I think this park attracts some strange people, because we have seen some interesting things there. We see people dressed up in medieval cloth sword fighting with fake swords. We always laugh when we see them. Eric actually likes to drive by a few times because he finds them fascinating. Well last night we saw something new. As we were driving by we saw two flourescent lights in the park. These lights were moving around. Eric and I slowed down to look and realized that the lights were coming from two people with LIGHT SABERS!!! Yeah, I said lights sabers. They were practice fighting. Maybe it was Obi One Kinobi teaching Anakin Skywalker. Yeah it probably was. Haha! Anyways, Eric and I drove around to take a picture, and then I actually took this video of it. Oh they joys of living in Provo!

Stupid Car Alarm

I mentioned in my last post that our car was broken. Here is the full story. When we got home on Sunday from Colorado, Eric was going to move our Neon from our covered parking spot back onto the street so that we could park our Camry there. He tried to turn off the alarm, but it wouldn't turn off. I told him to get a new battery because the battery in the remote dies easily. He went upstairs to get a new battery, but when he came back down, it STILL wouldn't work. Fun huh? So then he decided to get into the car with the alarm going off and move it. Well he gets in, the alarm is going off (it's quite loud might I add), and guess what? The car won't turn on. We don't have jumper cables so I went up to our neighbors to see if they did. Turns out they don't, so Eric went on a hunt to find some. He finally found some, so we tried to jump the car, which was not a success. We realized that it wasn't the battery when the music and all of the lights were still working. That's not a good sign. We then decide to move the car to the street. Two of our male neighbors came to help Eric push it, while I steered. We got in to the street successfully where it sat for a few days. Luckily the alarm turns off after a few minutes once the car has not been touched. I really felt bad for our neighbors though, because throughout this whole faisco, the alarm was going off the WHOLE time! Anyways, so on Wednesday night Ryan and Amber came over with their Jeep and a tow cable. They helped us tow it down the street to a mechanic. The best part about this is that the alarm is still broken! So we get the cable attached to both of the cars and we're off! It was quite funny actually. Here is this jeep pulling this little car with the alarm going off the ENTIRE time. People must have thought that we were so dumb for trying to steal a broken car. Everyone who passed us was looking at us like we were idiots. It was funny. So we drop the car off and tell them that the alarm needs to be turned off before they worked on the car or else it would go off. The people turn it off and then get ready to push it. The guy got in the car and turned the key, and guess what? The car turned on! The alarm was broken, not the car. One of the security features is that the car can't turn on if the alarm is still on. So my poor little car will no longer have a car alarm... or automatic start. Hopefully it doesn't get stolen like it did before or broken into again... So like the title says, "STUPID CAR ALARM!" Here are some pictures and a video of this adventure!

The Longest Post that you Will Ever See.. BEWARE!

Well once again I have been a terrible blogger. My friend told me today that if I didn't post something she was never going to read my blog again. So thanks for the motivation Amber! It's been a month and a half. WOW.. time flies. So Eric and I have had a fun time this month. We have been traveling a lot. It's been fun but it sure makes you tired! Since it has been so long I'm just going to do a slide show and just briefly talk about the pictures in order.

First of all... we went to Vegas for President's Day week-end. We had a fun time making sugar cookies with my grandma and spending Valentine's day with them. They took us to Applebee's, which is their VERY favorite restaurant. We love to go visit them. They are a lot of fun. Eric bought me roses and tulips for Valentine's Day. I love when he buys me flowers. He is so romantic!

The next week-end my co-worker Cristina came over with her boyfriend to play Ticket to Ride. Love that game. She brought over some Creme Brule and a torch. It was so fun. I think we need to get one of those. The next day Eric and I went up to Salt Lake to go to Music and the Spoken Word at the Tabernacle on Temple Square. We went with The Baker's, a family Eric taught on his mission. I had never been and it was really neat. Alright moving on... sorry that this is so random!!

The next week-end Eric and I went to San Diego to go his cousin Erin's wedding. We left on Friday and flew out there. Eric's uncle got us cheap tickets because he works for Jet Blue. We really appreciated it. It made the trip a whole lot cheaper. We got to hang out with Eric's family a whole lot. It was fun for me to get to know them a little better. On Saturday we went to Breakfast with his family and then went touring a little bit. Eric's uncle Gary took us in a Limo to the Point Loma lighthouse. It was so pretty. It was fun to be in a limo. I felt like we were celebrities.. well not quite. Later that afternoon we went to their wedding. It was at a botanical garden. Very pretty!! Later that night we went to their reception and had some delicious food!! I ate some fish and liked it! That's' an accomplishment for me.

The next week-end Eric left me for a few days to go to Las Vegas to cover the Mountain West Basketball play-offs. He had a fun time. It was more a vacation than a school trip. He was playing most of the time. The team didn't make it to the finals so he got home on Saturday instead of Sunday. I missed him a lot, but it was alright because on Friday night Ryan and Amber and I had a sleepover. First we had dinner and then we went with our friends Steve and April to the Draper Temple open house. I had never been to one of those before. It was neat. I was Eric was with me though. After that we went back to their place and watched Ghost Town. It was funny. I was giggling most of them time. Then we went to bed... Ryan and Amber in their room, and me in the guest room. The next morning Ryan left to take a test so Amber and I watched "Made of Honor" and painted our toe nails. They were super cute. Then we went to Shirley's and bought DELICIOUS cinnamon rolls. I will definitely be back! Later that afternoon I went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic with Kirsten. I love seeing girly movies with her! Eric came back that night and we went to Costco with Ryan, Amber and Sean for dinner. Then we went and bought some pie for pie day and then went to play Ticket to Ride. Eric won.. again! It was fun though.

Alright so the most recent little trip was to Colorado top go to my cousin Clay's reception. We left on Friday at 2 and drover straight there. We got there at about 10 and went to our friends the Walton's house. We stayed up and talked to them for a little while. They used to live in Virgina and they are how I met Eric, so we all knew each other. The next morning we woke up before 8 to go help my family set up the church for the reception. Eric was up on a ladder putting a drop ceiling up. It sure looked nice. After we were there for a few hours we left to go back to the Waltons to get ready for the reception, but before going we HAD to go to KT's to eat. That's where I used to work for a long time!! I was so excited to eat there. After that I took Eric on a quick tour of where I grew up. I took him by my elementary school and Eric made me get out to take a picture. He liked it because I had sang my school song to him, which he thinks is funny. We then went back to the reception. It was fun to hang out with my family. I love to see Eric with them. Everyone just loves him!! After the reception we all went to Applebee's to eat. We got there right before they were closing. They were so happy about that!! After we ate, we went back to my Aunts house. My cousin and his wife wanted to open some of their presents, so we stayed to watch them open ours. A few presents turned into all of them. You can't stop once you start! We were there until 1 in the morning. It was late! We didn't go to bed until 2. SO LATE!! The next morning I got up and talked to Charlotte Walton for awhile. She made us her delicious cinnamon rolls. What a nice host! Then Eric and I got ready and were back on the road. We hit some pretty intense winds and had to dodge huge tumble weed more than once. After the eight hour drive, we came home to a nice surprise. Our other car wouldn't start. That's a story for another day though. I am typed out. Sorry it was so long. Hopefully I didn't bore you!! Enjoy the pictures!

The Mayan!

Eric and I invited our friends Kirsten and Aaron to go to this restaurant in Sandy called The Mayan. It is a Mexican Restaurant that is themed after the Mayan culture. It is like a jungle inside, with birds noises and stuff, but the best part is that every half an hour there is a cliff diving show. There is a big waterfall inside with a little pool at the bottom. Eric and I had gone before a while ago, but we were way up at the top of the restaurant and could hardly see the divers. This time we had the best seats you could have. We were sitting at the bottom right in front of the waterfall. We got lucky. We even got splashed a little but. Everytime a show started, all of these little kids would come running to see the divers, but all we had to do was sit right where we were eating! It was nice. Anyways, it was fun and the food was pretty good too! It was well worth the drive! Like i said before, I am in need of a good camera, because my camera doesn't do well in the dark. Hopefully you can pick out the divers in these pictures.

SUPERBOWL!!!

Superbowl Sunday's has got to be one of the best Sports Days of the year! Who doesn't like to hang out with good friend, eat delicious food, watch a good Football game, with great commercials, and well just have fun? I sure like all of those things. For the past two years, Eric's roommates had Superbowl parties. This year was not an exception. This year we only had nine people over: Ryan, Amber, Sean, Eric, me, Steve, April, Mike, and Carol. It was still fun with smaller numbers. I think my favorite part is planning for the food. Amber and I usually take care of this part of the day, and this year I think we did an excellent job. We thought we hadn't planned for enough food, and then once we got together, ,we realized that we had PLENTY!!! Here is a list of the food that we had: Taquitos, BBQ Beef Sandwiches, Meatballs, Seven Layer Bean Dip, Artichoke/Spinach Dip, Chili Cheese Dip, Crab Salad, Peanut Butter Bars, Football shaped Rice Krispy Treats, Chips and Soda. It was a lot of food. We were all so sick after eating it all, but it was so worth it! The game was great, even though we all wanted the Cardinals to win. The commercials were pretty good too. We were even in for a nice treat when there was an hour long office on!!! It was great! Here is a little slide show to prove that we had fun:

Basketball!

A week ago on Saturday, I finally went to witness Eric in action as a Sports Writer. He's done it a few times now, but I never go with him, because unless someone wants to go, then I would have to sit alone. Also, he has to go a half an hour early anf stay for the press conference afterwards. So our friends Ryan and Amber came with me, and I got to see Eric sitting so close to the players. Lucky guy! Eric is really enjoying writing for the Daily Universe. He likes it so much in fact, that he is hoping to get an internship this summer to do communications for the Basketball team. Anyways, here is a picture of Eric in action:

He is the third from the left sitting down. He is wearing a white shirt. I was pretty far away so the picture isn't great. I think it's time for a better camera...

2009 Car Show

On Friday night we went with Kirsten and Aaron to the 2009 car show at the South Towne Expo center. We of course stopped at Five Guy's for dinner, and found out that they are opening one in Provo in March. We could not have been any more excited! Then we were off to the show. The car show is just a big room with all of the different brands of car showing off their newest models. You can get inside of all of the cars to see if you like them or not. They have some drawings to win cars and other things, and they also have a section of really old and really expensive cars. I think I dreamed about all of the cars that I wanted that night. The following are all of the cars that I would not mind taking home (this is in my dream world BTW):
1. Acura TSX - Eric labeled this the sexy car, which it is
2. Scion tC - this cute little car has two sun roofs
3. Lincoln Navigator - this car had a drop down step... really cool
4. My all time fav the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, this one will be a reality one day!
5. Lexus RX 350 - very nice SUV!
6. Mercedes Benz C-class
7. the list could go on and on... but there are just a few.

Ok, here is a list of the cool/interseting cars, that I could never afford or want:
1. Maserati
2. Ferrari
3. Bentley
4. Smart Car aka Death Trap

We had a great time sitting in all of these cars and dreaming of the day when we might be able to actually afford one...:)

My Husband is a stud!

So this year for school Eric is taking a News Reporting class or something like that. On the first day of class they had to write down what they would like to report on for the Daily Universe (the newspaper at BYU.) Eric's first choice was Men's Basketball and that's what he got. The next day he had to jump right in it by going to the basketball game, sitting with the journalists, going to the press conference afterwards and then writing an article about the game. The best part about it is that he gets a parking pass so that he can park close by! So far he has had 3 articles published with a couple more coming this week. If you would like to see his articles, you can go to the following website: http://newsnet.byu.edu/section.cfm/home and then search eric's name. I am really proud of him!
