Chicks!

Today as my co-workers and I were walking out of our building for a meeting, we came across the cutest thing ever: a duck and 9 chicks.  I had to stop and take a picture, or two.  It was so precious.  I felt just like a little kid, but I hadn't seen little baby ducks in a long time.  They were probably a long way from home (well kinda) because there is not a body of water that close to my office.  I hope they made it home safely!  This totally made my day.  How could this not make you smile?

I Need Your Help!

For all of you moms out there (or for those of you who just know things), what 5 things could you have NOT lived without when your babies were little?  Since we now know that we're having a boy, I am ready to start purchasing baby things.  However, I just don't even know where to start.  If any of you wise mothers have any advice for me, I will gladly take it!  Thanks!

The Verdict Is In

As I previously posted, May 3rd was our three year anniversary.  However, that was not the only exciting thing going on that day.  At 5:00 I had my ultrasound appointment!  I was so excited, and very nervous (but only for the hour before).  It was a really cool experience that made my pregnancy feel even more real.  The best part of it was that we found out that we're having a BOY!!  I was hoping for a boy, well we both were, so we're pretty excited.  Everything looks good, which was a relief to me.  I really had no reason for concern, but I've never had a child before so I just didn't know what to expect.  I'm just really happy now and so is Eric.

After we left the appointment we went to Babies R Us and bought a cute little outfit.  I let Eric pick it out.  It has a little monkey on the bum and is so cute.  I can't wait to have a little baby to put the outfit on.  He's going to be super cute!  We then went to celebrate our anniversary at Texas Roadhouse.  We both like that place, and I'm finally feeling good enough that a steak didn't sound repulsive.

Also, I already gave Eric his anniversary present a few weeks ago, but he gave me mine that day.  It's a video camera!  We had mentioned getting one at one point, but then never really discussed it.  Well he got it for me and said he didn't want to miss anything from here on out.  What a sweet guy.  I'm excited to have one.  I can take a lot of videos of my cute little boy once he gets here, so watch out blog!

Week-end Cabin Getaway

Last Friday night Eric went with his good friends Sean and Ryan up to Sean's family cabin near Oakley, UT.  Sean is getting married on May 7, so they were going up for a last hoorah before Sean gets married.  They actually dubbed this week-end "Man's Week-end."  Well, that name wasn't quite fitting because the significant others were invited up on Saturday night.   

Us girls left to come up at about 4 PM on Saturday.  The boys had told us that there was a lot of snow up there.  We thought they were joking because we hardly saw any snow until about 10 minutes before we got there.  Oh and there was A LOT of snow.  A little while after we got there we enjoyed a delicious meal of dutch oven BBQ chicken and cornbread, and tin foil veggies.  It was yummy!  Good job everyone.

We then ventured inside to hang out and make smores and dough boys.  Dough boys are a little pie looking treat made from biscuits being cooked on a special wooden stick.  I love them.  We also decided to all sleep in the main room on the couch and on two mattresses because the cabin was freezing!  The main area had a wood burning stove making it the warmest room.  After getting our beds all set up we put in Inception to watch.  We actually all fell asleep except for Eric.  He turned the movie off early though because watching it alone was no fun.

The next morning we woke up to a very cold cabin.  It was 28 inside!  The fire had died out and we were all cuddled up so we didn't notice the chill until we woke up.  Man it was cold.  We got the fire started and the place warmed up a little.  After a delicious breakfast of donuts and breakfast casserole we decided to take a walk since the sun was finally shining.  The area was beautiful.  It felt so good to get outside.  After we got back from our walk, we packed up and went home.  I'm glad we were able to go.  It was a lot of fun.

Happy Anniversary to my sweetie!!  I am so glad that I married you three years ago today.  They've been the best years ever and I can't wait for the many years to come.  I love you Eric!

Kicks

I'm pretty sure that I felt baby kick on Saturday the 23rd.  I'm still not sure if what I felt was a kick, but I've felt the same little thing since Saturday.  I'm excited to feel baby move a whole lot more and even more excited for when Eric can feel it too.

Baby Bump

I was going to take a picture of my belly every month after 12 weeks, but then decided to do every other week.  I missed week 14, but have week 16 and 18.  I feel like the pictures make me look bigger than I really am, or it could be the fact that I'm not  used to seeing a bump on my belly.  I better get used to it though because it's not going to get any smaller...

My Embarrassing Moment

I started this post weeks ago, but have been too lazy to finish it, until now.

For all of my dedicated readers out there, you may remember me writing this when posting about the BYU Basketball team, "I just might have a little crush on Jackson Emery.  Don't worry, Eric is fully aware.  He might have a crush on Jimmer and that's OK."  Obviously that was a joke, right?  I wrote that fully anticipating that none of the people mentioned would EVER read my blog.

Let's move forward a few days to the day after I wrote about being pregnant.  I posted a link on Facebook for people to come read it.  My little brother saw that link on Facebook and decided to read the blog post and then some more.  There's no harm in that right?  Well, I got a phone call from him on my lunch break that day.  He told me that he decided to read my blog while meeting with one of his school groups (sounds like an effective group meeting huh?)  As soon as he told me that, I knew there was a problem and turned bright red.  I only knew of one group that he was in this semester, and it just so happened that Jackson Emery was in that group.  Yes, the same Jackson Emery that I had mentioned that I had a crush on.  Well, my brother found this to be humorous and decided to share that little part of my blog with Jackson.  According to him it went a little something like this, "Hey Jackson, do you want to know what my married sister thinks of you?"  He then proceeded to read that part to him.  Apparently Jackson just laughed.  I'm sure he gets that a lot.

Anyways, it was a little embarrassing, especially to someone who gets embarrassed easily.  Looking back now it is pretty funny though.  Thanks Jason for sharing my blog with him, haha!    

On a similar note, that same day when driving back from lunch, I saw someone.  I posted about it on Facebook.  This is what it said:  "As I was driving back to work from lunch today, I had to drive through the Marriott Center parking lot. While doing so I suddenly had to slow down for a male figure who was crossing the road to the Marriott Center. As I stared at this man I realized it was the one and only JIMMER FREDETTE. He looked at me as I stared at him. I quickly, and awkwardly, looked away and drove past him. Good thing I slowed down or I would have ended his NBA career too soon. Needless to say, I was a little star struck. That was the closest I have ever been to him. (Eric thinks I am ridiculous)."  It was just funny that these two events happened in the same day.

September

As many of you may already know, I love the month of September.  You may be wondering why I'm blogging about something that is still 5 months away, but if you bear with me for a little while you will understand.  Promise.  There are three reasons why I love this month, and I want to share them with you.  Well, I mostly want to share one with you :)  My top three reasons are:

3.  This month marks the beginning of fall.  The leaves start to change colors and the weather starts to get cooler.  I love going on walks and hearing the crunch of leaves under my feet.  Seriously, who doesn't love the start of fall??

2.  It's my Birthday!!!  September 22nd is possibly the best day ever.  I really really love birthdays!

1.  This reason is a new one this year.  On September 14th (give or take a few days) Eric and I will become parents!  That's right, we are going to have a baby!!  That is definitely going to make this September an extra special one for the two of us.  We are super excited!  We get to find out on May 3 (our anniversary) what we are having.  How sweet is that?!  I'm so excited to see Eric as a dad.  Little kids just adore him.

Jimmermania

If any of you don't know who Jimmer Fredette is, then I suggest you stop living in a cave and turn on the news:)  Well, if you don't live in Utah, then watch ESPN or any other sports station.  He is one of the most, if not THE most talked about college basketball players this year and he happens to play for my Alma Mater and employer, BYU!!  Yeah he's pretty awesome.  He shoots an average 26 points per game or something like that.  He scored 52 points against New Mexico in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.  That's crazy.  He is up for the College Basketball Player of the Year.  No big deal.  Let's just say that even President Obama is a fan of him and so is most of the country.

JIMMER

I don't want to leave out the rest of the basketball team he plays for.  The whole team is pretty awesome.  I just might have a little crush on Jackson Emery.  Don't worry, Eric is fully aware.  He might have a crush on Jimmer and that's OK.  Haha.  They are currently playing in the NCAA Tournament and made it to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1981!!  Everyone in Utah is crazy about this team right now, and you should be too.  They play Florida tonight at 5:27 MT and everyone should watch the game even if you don't like Basketball or BYU.  It's going to be great, and I REALLY hope BYU wins.  That would be awesome.

I really am not a sports blogger of any sort (obviously), but I had to give a shout out to this awesome basketball team.  I'm so excited for them.  Here's to hoping for an Elite Eight appearance.  Go Cougars!
