Monticello

Last Saturday Eric and I got to go to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. It is in Charlottesville, which is about 2 hours away. It was such a beautiful day to get out and learn some American history!! We got there around one but didn't get a tour until four. We just walked around the plantation and saw some pretty neat things. Then we got to go inside of the house and it was very pretty. Unfortunately, you aren't able to take pictures inside the house so I can't post any of those. By the time we were done, we were starving, so we went to Pop-Eyes. They don't have those in Utah and I love their biscuits! If any one is ever in Virginia I suggest they make a trip down to see Monticello!

This is the view from the hill where Monticello is located. It's beautiful!

This is where Thomas Jefferson is buried. It's in a little family cemetery a little ways away from the house. Some of his ancestors are still being buried there to this day. The newest one I saw was from 2006.

This was on the gate to the cemetery. I thought it was pretty.

There were people there demonstrating what was done on the plantation. This guy is showing how the slaves made nails. It was pretty cool.

Here's a close up of Monticello. If you look at the back of a Nickel, you will see this same picture.

And, here's the last picture. Eric and I in front of Monticello. What a cute couple. I love doing fun things like this with him. We have so much fun together.

Cute Blog!! Looks like a fun trip. Ryan & I live about 2 hours west of Charlottesville, so we're not too far away from each other. Small world to live in Provo & Broomfield, and now be on the East coast together. Yay! Congrats on your wedding, your pictures are beautiful.
