Picnic in the Park

I was trying to think of what to make for dinner tonight, and decided that I wanted to do a picnic.  I actually wanted to do one yesterday, but we had too much going on in the afternoon and dinner plans were already made.  Since the weather was so nice today, I decided that today was the day.  I didn't really have any good food for a picnic dinner so I decided that we would go to Costa Vida and then head over to a park to eat it.  I actually wanted to go to a park with a swing set with a baby swing, but I didn't know of any so we went to Rock Canyon park.  This also happens to be the park where Eric proposed to me!  So we drove around a little bit and found the perfect spot in the shade.  We set Travis up with some toys and enjoyed our delicious burritos in peace.  It was a perfect evening.  I think this might become at least a monthly tradition this summer.  It was just what we needed.  I think Travis loved it too!  He even got his first ride down a slide.  Thank you Utah for the perfect weather this evening.

Travis even got to participate in the picnic.  Yummy prunes!

Also, you must check out this video.  This is what he was doing for the last part of the evening and most of the way home.  Funny boy.  Oh, and sorry it's sideways.  I don't know how to fix it.  Enjoy!

Family Visit

About a week ago Eric's parents came out for a week-long visit.  They found some cheap tickets and wanted to visit Travis.  Well, us too, but Travis is more exciting!  We had a fun visit!  I failed at taking any pictures though.  I can't believe it.  That's my next goal: take more pictures.  Anyways, we ate a lot of good food, and by a lot, I mean A LOT!!  Probably too much.  I guess that's what vacations are for huh?  Travis had his first visit to Temple Square up in Salt Lake the day they flew in.  We were just walking through to get to The Lions House restaurant, but I will count it.  I was able to go to the dentist (oh joy!) and get my hair cut while they watched Travis.  I really appreciated that.  I hadn't had a hair cut in over 7 months.  It was needed.  Trust me.  Eric and I were able to go on a date on Saturday night.  That was lovely.  It was nice to just relax and enjoy the company!  I hope we can do it again soon!  We also got to check out the new City Creek Center up in Salt Lake.  That mall is awesome!  They have all kinds of stores, some super expensive like Tiffany's, and then some normal stores.  There is a creek running through the mall and a retractable roof.  It's awesome.  If you are ever in Salt Lake, check it out.  Trust me!  We also got to eat at The Cheesecake Factory that day.  Oh my, it was delicious.  I LOVE their cheesecake.  We got to go on a lot of walks around our neighborhood.  Travis loves going on walks.  I was a little sad that the weather wasn't as nice the week they were here.  It would have been nice to get outside more.  The day after they left the weather turned great again.  Figures.  I'm sure there are things that I missed that we did.  It was such a nice visit and we sure do miss them.  I wish all of our family was close by.  That would be so wonderful.  Thanks for coming to visit!  We love you!

I Failed Again

I really thought my new approach at blogging would help to motivate me to do it.  Like this blog post title said, I failed!  I am going to keep trying though.  A lot has been going on around here.  Mostly we had to deal with teething and everything that came with it.  We are actually still dealing with the repercussions of teething even though his teeth have been in for a few weeks.  Mostly just his sleep has been HORRIBLE.  I mean 30 minute naps during the day and waking numerous times at night.  I think he forgot how to self soothe and I've been trying to reteach him but it is so hard!  I won't give up though.  We also stopped swaddling him since he is now too big for his swaddlers.  He still likes to be swaddled so that is a challenge with his sleep too.  He is still a pretty happy little guy.  Some days are better than others but I love being him mommy no matter what.  His little smile and laugh just make me so happy.

Moral of this blog:  I am going to try harder to be a more consistent blogger again.
